About this user

Michael Blundell's love affair with music began at age 13 when he struck his first chord on a brand new acoustic guitar he received underneath the Christmas tree early one December morning. His passion for music quickly gathered momentum in the form of music extension classes during high school, stints with jazz bands and vocal groups, and roles in various school musicals including "Glamalot". Upon completion of a Bachelor of Music Technology degree (BMusTech) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, studying the art of music production and recording, Michael found his true calling in writing and performing music.

While learning the finer details behind making music, Michael has also been building on his stage presence with a series of covers band stints and performances at the X&Y Bar and Tempo Hotel. Michael has used these experiences to tweak his on-stage shows and build a vast musical repertoire of both old school tunes and modern hits. As a result, this accomplished performer can hold his own with a solo acoustic guitar and vocal repertoire of both cover tunes and original material.

These days Michael hones his craft in his native Brisbane, with the singer and guitarist performing both covers and original material. His songs are a sweet and soulful blend of folk, blues and country styles, with influences ranging from John Mayer and Derek Trucks to The Eagles and Paul Kelly. Michael is currently drawing upon these influences as he works towards producing his debut E.P, due in early Spring 2011.
