Band Bio :

Music hits you in one of three places - the head, the hips or the heart. The sound of Bostonian quartet Midatlantic hits you square on in all three.

Midatlantic is the musical re-incarnation of Boston/Dublin band The Bleedin Bleedins. The quartet, known for delivering jaggedly amped melodies with anthemic twists and turns, embarked on the latest leg of their musical journey with the release of The Longest Silence on September 16, 2008.

Singer Mike Coen and guitarist Barry Kelly go back as far as the year 2000 and formed the power trio, The Bleedin Bleedins with drummer/producer, Dave Franz in 2004. Their 2005 debut, Life Without Computers, was warmly received by the press, radio and live audiences alike. They toured extensively in the US and Europe and shared stages with The Strokes, The Frames, BellX1 and Fountains of Wayne among others.

With the expansion to a four piece including bassist Matt Diekmann, the bands sound evolved into something bigger. The raw live energy of before has been enhanced and the bold step to acknowledge the change was taken with the change of name to Midatlantic. This is inspired by the Atlantic Ocean, which inhabits the space between the bands joint homelands of the USA and Ireland.

Midatlantic writes from a collaborative space, often trading instruments for further inspiration. With his voice that hovers between the sinister and the angelic, Mike Coen provides the melodic thread to the songs while Franz, Kelly and Diekmann complete the rhythmic and harmonic tapestry. The quality of the song is always at the heart of what Midatlantic creates. It could be said the new songs tread a broad line from the visceral to the caressing.
Things have gone well at this early stage in the campaign with a series of positive reviews, successful shows and TV and radio appearances under their belt. The band was even invited to play pre-game at the New England Patriots stadium in Foxboro, MA in early November.

Midatlantic will make you think, make you dance and ultimately make you want more.
