Around May 2005, Jan De Sorte (lead guitar) formed a new musical formation together with old friend and rhythm guitarist Joost Smet, young talent Yannick De Clerck (drums) and allrounder Mathijs Dhoey (bass). From the get go, the foursome from Beveren-Waas began writing and rehearsing with intense motivation.
In the spring of 2006 they found their vocalist in JIM veejay Niko Van Driessche, who's five year contribution to pop punk band Nailpin earned him fame and recognition throughout the Belgian punk/rock scene. With its line-up finally set, 'Mid Air Collision' was founded.
April 2007: The band releases a demo CD called 'Better safe than sorry' which contains 5 carefully crafted songs. They throw an awesome release party to celebrate their début in style!
The following summer Mid Air Collision put out their first single 'Temporary Living'. A kick ass music video was shot and released on national television. 'Temporary Living' received numerous airplay and conquered a five weeks lasting number one spot in the 'Puur Belgisch' charts!
During the fall of 2007 they tour Belgium's biggest media stores to promote the videogame 'Jam Sessions' by Ubisoft. This whole setup revolves around the mellow and heartfelt acoustic song 'Save Yourself', which can be found on the game's soundtrack.
In May 2008 they put out their first EP. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" earnes the band a steady fanbase and Mid Air Collision becomes a household name in the Belgian punkrock scene.
A few months later they record a follow-up single called 'Man Vs. Hero' at Oscar Holleman's famous RS29 studio. 'Man Vs. Hero' gatheres a great deal of enthusiasm and critical acclaim! JIM puts the highly original music video in super rotation and aires a behind the scenes documentary of the video shoot in their lifestyle show 'Spotlight'!
Second to that Mid Air Collision conqueres a spot at 'Groezrock 2009', one of Belgium's biggest alternative festivals! They share the bill with awesome bands like NOFX, Taking back Sunday, Rise Against, Bullet for my Valentine and many more!
July 2009: The band releases 'Rearrange the Past', a five-track record with new songs of epic proportions! It's sold out in a matter of weeks.
September 2010: After an estimated total of 250 shows and a few months of hiatus, Mid Air Collision returns with a new line-up! Former Next Week Friday singer Bart Vriesacker joins the ranks on bass, while our former bassplayer Mathijs Dhoey switches to the drums! They also release a new single called Consumers!
Early 2011 they join The Golden Drop Tour with Until Broadway and Vienna. Great shows and great times follow!
Mid Air Collision is currently writing and preproducing their new material. In 2012 they'll be back with a new record and new shows!
