About this user
I am proud of who I am as a person pertaining to my mind and soul. My mother is Native American and my father is Mexican.
Mexico is the 11th most wealthiest country and has the 3rd largest foreign trade in the world.
1927 Grand Council of American Indians-
"The white people, who are trying to make us over into their image, they want us to be what they call "assimilated," bringing the Indians into the mainstream and destroying our own way of life and our own cultural patterns. They believe we should be contented like those whose concept of happiness is materialistic and greedy, which is very different from our way. "
We are not Hispanics. Hispanics come from the caucasian land 'Hispania'. In this modern time, Hispania is the land of Portugal, Spain, Andorra, Gibraltar and a very small southern part of France. The government is trying to put Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Hondurans, Dominican Republicans, Cubans, El Salvadorians, Guatemalans, etc. into the 'Hispanic' group. It doesn't matter if you speak the caucasian language spanish, that doesn't make you a hispanic(white). We must hang onto what's left of our identities. It is also false to believe that all Mexicans have inherited Spaniard a.k.a Spanish blood.
Mexicans all come from the same 'late' ancestors that originated from Asia. They migrated to 'The Americas' about 10,000 years ago. Before this land was called America, Mexico, etc., when it was undivided; many tribes scattered across.
The tribes in Mexico traded with tribes in N. America for a very long time and also with tribes beyond.
This land was first divided by the Spaniards a.k.a Spanish. They claimed much land which is now called South America, Central America, Mexico, and much of North America. After the year 1519, the Spaniards had complete control of Mexico. Their language and culture greatly influenced the Culhua and Tenochca which are now called Mexicans. Mexica describes a larger group together as the Culhua and Tenochca.
The Spaniards killed many Chlhua and Tenochca (mainly men and children), raped women, and took what was not theirs.
The Culhua and Tenochca ppl were forced to speak the white language Spanish, convert to their religion, and practice their culture. The Spaniards named many parts in Mexico such as Puebla, Tijuana, San Luis, Ciudad de Juarez, and so on.
As the US formed many Native Americans moved west and south of N. America, and to also Mexico to flee the mass genocide.
In 1848 the Mexican and Spanish ppl were made US citizens after the Spanish-American War, which was led by the Spaniards and British. After the war, the Mexican and Spanish ppl were able to keep their land in what was now called 'The United States of America' and no longer 'New Spain'.
A scant 150 years ago, approximately 50% of what was then Mexico was appropriated by the US as spoils of war, and in a series of land "sales" that were coerced capitalizing on the US victory in that war. A sizable number of Mexican citizens became citizens of the United States from one day to the next as a result, and the treaty declaring the peace between the two countries recognized the rights of such people to their private properties (as deeded by Mexican or Spanish colonial authorities), their own religion (Roman Catholicism) and the right to speak and receive education in their own tongue (for the majority, Spanish) [refer to the text of the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo]. Therefore, the descendants of this population continue to press for such rights, and many hold that theirs is a colonized land and people in view of the fact that their territory and population was taken over by military force.
"Every year thousands of Americans mistakenly refer to Cinco de Mayo as Mexico's Independence Day."
-Joe Baca
"The ground on which we stand is sacred ground. It is the blood of our ancestors."
Two-hundred, twenty + years later a president of black skin finally came to office, since 1789.
"Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names."-John F.Kennedy
"Forgiveness is choosing to love. It is the first skill of self-giving love."-Mohandas K. Gandhi
Are Native Americans all tall?
Actually only one tribe of Native Americans that lived in N. America was one of the tallest in the world, but Native Americans in general are not so tall. The average Native American in Central America is 4'11 and up North is 5'5. (that is the male's height, females are shorter of course).
