@mrpicky510: Definately not, but better equipment, to the untrained ear, can make you sound better. Like people say I play better on my friends ESP LTD KH-II and Line 6 spider amp, rather than my Ashton starter kit amp and Kustom 100 watt amp.

I like all Metallica from the thrash, to hard rock, to blues rock, to whatever St.Anger was, alternative metal? Metallica have always been good and always will be because they have such a wide spectrum of rock and metal genres in their songs. And if you don't like the 'new' Metallica or anything ...
