Every person who has had bacterial meningitis receives a follow up appointment about 4-6 weeks after discharge from hospital to assess any aftercare health needs. We have a recovery booklet which you can request by calling or emailing us. You could take this along to discuss with your doctor who will be able to refer you to the appropriate specialists where necessary.

Our Freefone helpline is available 24 hours on 080 8800 3344 (UK) or 1800 41 33 44(RoI) More information is also available on our website www.meningitis.org

I am a meningitis and septicemia survivor. I feel that there should be doctors monitoring my current health to search for side effects after surviving this disease. I am going down a road where there seems to be a total lack of information of how or why I have other health issues I believe are related to my having meningitis.
