@kempis76 It wasn't a touch by Burton. It was a touch originally put in by Sondheim in the original stage production. It showed that Sweeney didn't kill people that he knew would be missed. He (& Mrs. Lovett) believes that there will not be any suspicion placed on them.

Also consider that, when live, Idina has a good 15-20 second break between the "I hope your happy" section and the lift so she has (especially as a good live performer), a good amount of time to catch her breath. Here she only has like 5 seconds, therefore has like no time to catch her breath.
