2006-PresentDominick Clinton L Thompson akaMello D, aka Dj DMonic, Born May 17 1988 raised in Brooklyn New York. Growing up with a parent who encouraged him to have a voice and opinion and a father with a talent for drawing pushed his love for all arts forward.First named Dj DMonic to express his uses with music production rather then rapping, the name Mello D was introduced later mid 2009 through his nonchalant persona and want, to avoid the in crowd throughout his life cleverly combing the words Mellow for his nature,Melody for the sound of the word and D for the first letter of his name. He naturally became a target to forceful individuals willing to start problems and got into fights and altercations, despite that he still stood on his own and never cared what anyone thought about him, being sure of himself. Often seen as the "Quiet guy", teachers and those who paid him any mind saw the spark that would later become his style of lyricism, witty, Relaxed and charismatic. Having a love for art, sketch drawings of anime and poems, that became the bases for a start of his artistic talents. Seeing the problems that plague low income areas of New York and other boroughs as well as other parts of the world made Dominick want to give something to listeners of Hip Hop because of it's wide fan base and relation to the areas he grew up in. When starting to write, the first few songs and lyrics did not come out as expected. It was clever, but it didn't have that skillful informative touch that was wanted. Growing up listening to known artist such as Nas, Big Pun, Big L, Mos Def, The Roots, Bust Rhymes, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Talib kweli and many more, made him critique himself and find out what he wanted to express besides his own personal thoughts. Never pretending to be something he isn't, the first thoughts that came to mind were not street violence or material possession.
Starting to write lyrics was a bit of a transition from writing poems during Elementary and Jr High school childhood. The first written songs made by Mello D calling himself DMonic at the time were songs that never got recorded but sat dormant in one of many many of his rhyme books. The first song ever recorded by Mello D was called "Just Memory" speaking about a personal experience between him and his daughters mother causing them to separate using a cut and looped version of Nujabes Lady Brown first few sec's using the Audacity program. Songs that followed were, raps over Papa Roaches "Getting away with murder" looping parts of the song to make 16's, where he compared himself with the average artist coming up sounding the same as everyone else, "Super Star" Instrumental version (Lupe Fiasco) Speaking on how material wealth can destroy an individual, "Get Em" Instrumental (Jr Writer) A song he regretted putting out due to it's similarities to subjects he wanted to avoid and "Streets is watching" Instrumental (Jay-Z) explaining how reckless behavior in the streets can lead to a life of sorrow. 2 untitled tracks were made in 2007 that were never displayed due to their comedic expression.
Wanting to be more versatile and improve his craft Mello D started producing his own Hip Hop beats using a wide verity of samples from video games to movie soundtracks and commercials. Personal matters set back his productions for almost 2 1/2 years. He made makes a comeback late (Fall) 2010 after reflecting on situations that had occurred during recent trouble times, now with a more determined and mature mind state he could start fresh after shutting down his music profile and anything else that predated the events.
Mello D wanting to bring the art and wisdom back to the Hip Hop genre that many feel is missing is now making arrangements to start his own business and inspire others to keep a straight and narrow path to success. Feeling lost and completely unlike himself but regaining his composure after a bout with depression his first Mix tape to be completed after 2010's Holiday season will be named "The Return Of 6 Senses".
