Currently, I'm a city producer for the 48 Hour Film Project Machinima competition that will be held November 14-16, 2008. Machinima means making films with computers or video games.
Machinima artists from all over the world will compete in an exciting, fast-paced, virtual reality film-making contest to be held November 14-16 2008. The Competition is open to all virtual worlds (e.g., Second Life, World Of Warcraft, IMVU, There, and members of other mmorpg).

Up to twenty-four teams will compete to write, shoot, and edit an entire "virtual reality" film... all in only 48 hours. Teams will be challenged to film entirely within a virtual world. This relatively new art form is known as Machinima and enables filmmakers of all levels to showcase their talents in a low-cost, high-creativity environment. The challenges will abound as traditional filmmakers learn new, computerized filmmaking techniques and experienced Machinima artists stretch creatively to help showcase this relatively new art form.
Competing teams prepare hard by gathering cast and crew, equipment, and anything else needed to make a virtual movie in just a weekend. Then, on Friday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, the competition kicks off when the 48HFP Machinima competition will conduct the kick-off using one of the global, universally available social media networks. Via social media channels and email, teams will receive a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue to be worked into their film. Teams have till Sunday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to submit (upload) a completed entry.
After the competition, artists, family, friends, sponsors, local celebrities, and the media will be invited to an online screening of entries. A screening may also be held "virtually" in Second Life, a popular virtual world. The winning team's film will go on to screen at the annual awards weekend and will be eligible for the honor of being named "Best 48 Hour Film of 2008"!
