About this user
Tina Meier is the founder of the 501(c)3
nonprofit organization, the Megan Meier
Foundation. On October 16, 2006, Tina's
life was turned upside down when
her daughter, Megan Meier took her own
life. Megan was in the 8th grade and just
weeks shy of her 14th birthday. She had
her whole life ahead of her, but tragically
was cyber bullied and part of a MySpace
hoax that involved an adult neighbor that
lived just 4 houses down the street.
Tina Meier worked closely with Senator
Scott Rupp and former Governor
Matt Blunt's Internet Task Force for
the State of Missouri to help pass Senate
Bill 818, which went into law on
August 28, 2008.
It is from this tragedy that Tina travels
across the country advocating the issues
of internet safety, along with Megan's
story. The foundation strives to help one
child at a time until bullying and cyber
bullying are non-existent.
