Nope, they destroy them. Same with the Sepura TETRA radios our emergency services use on their national network. Their too paranoid about security. Some Motorola TETRA sets do go back to the depot and get wiped the flashed with clear firmware and sold on though, that's the only exception though.

Its probably not the best idea to challenge a cops authority in a city park. Imagine someone rolling upto your place of work questioning whether you're doing your job right. It's not the cops fault, he's only responding to a call.
