started the first rock band in Sudan. His arrival in Egypt was very controversial. Who is this "Monster"? Defending his cause of living with passion and art.
When he was in Sudan he was even chained to a pole at an Islamic camp with holy men trying to get the devil out of him.He didnt know where he was and had no contact with anyone!He managed to escape and follow his movement or so he called it at the time."The Elusive Movement", the band he started in Khartoum.
"It was nice to see rock culture spreading among the Nile. I'm really stoked that there people who supported the movement.However there was also some bashing people that thought that we were insane and trying to change their culture"
Jesse met with Dj Moe from NasJota and Jazzar and Tarig Al Hawi to record thee first Rock Song in Sudan "Candle Lights". His best friends from the Philipinnes sung along with him.
The Monster left Sudan recording his hit song "Crazy" and shot the video in five different cities in Egypt. All very natural to bring the true essence of the vintage song and video.
In Egypt, Jesse was very much involved in the scene. When he got there he met up with Amir from Khartoums local rap band "G-Squad" and recorded the first hip-hop and rock beat in The Middle East. Titled"Monsters Swag". The song was talking about the street harassment and every day issues that someone with an Alternative Lifestyle might have in an Arab or Islamic Country.
Jesse met with many celebrities in Cairo and got himself into the community. It was really amazing that he was able to that since he grew up in America all of his life.
Jesse, however, also dealt with a very dark period when he was in Cairo.So many things were changing so many things were happening. The skies started to get darker at some point.He no longer wanted t to be part of the glamorous scandalist around town.He found himself an easy target at some times but that didnt stop him.
After recording his song "Spitting Bats" Jesse realized that he was dealing with a change of sound now. All of a suddan record a song in Arabic! The song tittled "Balad El Regal" was trying to convince the North and South Sudan to stay one country. The song was the first of its kind very unique.
Where next? Who knew? Jesse Monster was in America all of Sudden after starting that whole mess on the Nile for the past 5 years.Culture shock was in Issue. He dealt with rejectiions from his father.Well the guy is going to get his message accross.I guess we'll have to wait and just see how he does it.
