On June 17th 2006, the first steps were taken towards providing media teachers in England and Wales with their own subject association. By officially constituting the Media Education Association (MEA), delegates from across the regions paved the way for an association that will seek to:
* support media teachers
* promote media literacy work
* raise the status of media education

The MEA aims to provide media teachers with a comprehensive website that will develop and support an active on-line community.
