Real Name: Mark Archer, Chris Peat
Profile: Mark Archer and Chris Peat from Stafford, England, had already worked together on various releases on the Blue Chip label when they finally teamed up as a duo and formed C&M Connection in 1989. After only one 12" release, "Another Night", they gave up that name and became Nexus 21.
The first Nexus 21 release was "(Still) Life Keeps Moving", a vocal techno tune today regarded as an early classic. They followed this up with their outstanding sole LP "The Rhythm Of Life", which was strongly influenced by Detroit techno, but also included acid house, electro and breakbeats elements.
After the release of the album, Blue Chip folded, and Nexus 21 found a new home in the just founded Network Records. Meanwhile, R&S snapped up "Logical Progression" and "Techno City" from The Rhythm Of Life and released them on 12". KMS released a set of Detroit remixes of "(Still) Life Keeps Moving" by Carl Craig / Mark Kinchen / Kevin Saunderson.
The first Archer / Peat releases for Network were licensed versions of Another Night and the Detroit remixes. Then the pair tried out yet another alter ego and released the "Overload EP" as Altern 8. They came back to being Nexus 21 for the deep techno of "Self Hypnosis", their contribution to the Bio Rhythm compilation. A remix of Self Hypnosis then appeared on the "Progressive Logic EP", alongside "Together" (from Bio Rhythm 2) and two tunes from The Rhythm Of Life, one remixed.
A second Nexus 21 album was ready in late 1991, but due to sample clearance problems, the LP never materialised. A small edition of white labels of "I Know We Can Make It"/"Sychologic PSP" was released, which showcased a bigger hardcore influence.
After the success of "The Vertigo EP" and "Activ-8", credited to Altern 8, Mark Archer and Chris Peat concentrated on that project. They still used the Nexus 21 name for occasional remixes.

I made bibimguksu (spicy noodles) for more than 30 people at Suzanne's house in Rotterdam, when she hosted a meetup for me there.

The recipe is for 2 servings but you can use the same methods and techniques to prepare the dish for many more. Suzanne and I had fun at the meetup showing people how to serve so many guests. We had a huge amount of bibimguksu! You can feed a lot of people on a skeleton budget! Please let me know if you have a bibimguksu party with your friends and family. Don't forget to take a photo and send it to me.
Ingredients:
Thin noodles (somyeon), cucumber, egg, kimchi and kimchi juice, sugar, hot pepper paste, garlic, vinegar, sesame seeds, and sesame oil.
Directions (for 2 servings):
1. Add ½ cup chopped kimchi, 1/3 cup kimchi juice, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1 ts sugar, ¼ cup hot pepper paste, 2 ts sesame oil, 1 or 2 ts vinegar, and 1 tbs roasted sesame seeds to a mixing bowl. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
2. Hardboil an egg, cut it in half, and set it aside.
3. Cut about ½ cup worth of cucumber into matchsticks and set aside.
4. Add about 7 oz (200 grams) of noodles into a pot of boiling water. Stir them with a spoon to prevent them from sticking together. Close the lid.
5. A few minutes later, they'll start boiling over. Open the lid and stir the noodles. Cook a few minutes more with the lid open until they are cooked well.
*tip: You can tell if they are cooked by tasting one or two. The noodles are very hot, so add a few noodles to a small bowl of cold water to cool them down before tasting. The noodles should be chewy and soft.
6. When the noodles are cooked, rinse them in cold water couple of times, strain them, and set aside. The noodles will expand and lose their chewiness as time passes, so the noodles should always be cooked last in this recipe, and then eat right away.
7. Put each portion of noodles on a serving plate and add the seasoning mixture on top. Add cucumber and egg and serve.
