Introducing - 'Go For A Song'
Go For A Song is a songwriting showcase on the Maverick Outdoor Stage, Saturday 4th July. It will be judged by Alan Cackett, [Maverick magazine Editor], Bob Paterson [BPA agency MD/Bob Paterson Show on Americana-uk], and Gail Davies [Nashville songwriter, 1st female to write, arrange and produce herself].
The winning act will get feedback from our prestigious panel, receive a review in Maverick magazine, and be engaged to perform at next year's Maverick festival
Go For A Song will follow the unplugged format, putting the emphasis on the song and the singer. Acts are limited to 1 song each, and maximum 2 performers, 2 acoustic instruments.
There will also be a premiere of festival boss Paul Spencer's film 'Going For A Song' at the festival - in which a film crew follows Chris Difford [Squeeze] and his guests at an intense songwriting hothouse held at Huntsham Court - writers include William Topley, Jill Sobule and Helen Boulding. The songwriters are paired off by Difford to create new songs from scratch. By lunchtime. Unmissable.
