I've played drums for 5 1/2 yrs. now. I started just to have fun; and to become able to play anything. I very quickly realized drums was about multitasking ,and therefore began to play more efficiently: if I can do what ever with one hand, why the hell use both? within three months of playing I bought a double pedal and was trying to play Slayer. Somewhere around the two year point Meshuggah came to my attention, and started my interest in off-time anything/everything. More and more I like cymbal speeds not matching the speed of the music. I like using free-hand technique; also known as gravity burst. This technique allows either of my hand to play at roughly a 32 note speed. This has made me a very very capable drummer. Plus, if I turn my cymbals upside down I can actually use the technique on the cymbals as well! (I just shouldn't in theory hit the cymbals too hard, but almost all my zildjians are broke anyway, and I refuse too WASTE money on more. After about 3 yrs. I realized human music sucks: simple, on-time, extremely repetitive, and most everything now has already been done thousands of times in just the last half century alone! I've trained myself to be able to play any melody: on my snare with one hand, on my double pedal, or on any cymbal with one hand. So when you watch any of my videos realize, I'm not trying to be perfect. I'm purposely making the song sound different; and therefore better (or at least more unique) than what almost every human ever to exist has/would/could/will. Don't worry my head isn't that big, and I most certainly realize no one wants music like I want it.
