How can a religion which incites violence and hate gain such phenomenal growth? "The Almanac Book of Facts", states the population increased 137% within the past decade - Christianity increased 46%, while Islam increased 235%. Following 9/11, 34,000 Americans converted to Islam. For every 1 male who convert to Islam, 4 females convert to Islam. So much for Islam subjugates women :)

Insha'Allah we dedicate this channel to addressing some of the myths concerning Islam.

Who are the Muslims?
More than 1 billion people from a vast range of races, nationalities and cultures across the globe - from the southern Philippines to Nigeria - are united by their common Islamic faith. Only 18% live in the Arab world; the world's largest Muslim community is in Indonesia; substantial parts of Asia and most of Africa are Muslim, while significant minorities are to be found in the Soviet Union, China, North and South America, and Europe.

What do they believe?
In God/Allah. Allah is the perfected term employed by Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews for God also and derives from Al-ilah, meaning [the deity], which also stems from the Arabic verb ta'Allaha or alaha, meaning ["to be worshipped"]. Thus, Allah simply means THE ONE WHO DESERVES ALL WORSHIP.

Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God; in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelations were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgment and individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority over human destiny and in life after death. Muslims believe in a chain of prophets from Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus [peace be upon them all]. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has gone before was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad [saw] through Gabriel. Importantly, the Quran does not claim to abrogate the previous revealed scriptures. On the contrary the Holy Quran affirms their validity ie verse 10:94.

What is Islam?
Islam is not a new religion, but the same Truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every generation. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness. The term I-S-L-A-M derived from the Arabic verb Aslama, which means "to accept, surrender or submit." Therefore, Islam means acceptance of and submission to God, and believers must demonstrate this by worshipping Him, following His commands, and avoiding polytheism.

"And fight [struggle] in the way of God with those who FIGHT with you, but aggress not: God loves not the aggressors." [2:190] What clearly are references in the Quran to a moral struggle, or an armed struggle in the face of provocation and aggression, in nowadays came to be interpreted as a general military offensive against non-believers. How odd.

Quran on the people of previous scriptures: Christians and Jews are often referred to as [People of the Book], i.e. people who have received and believed in previous revelation from God's prophets. Hence "And argue not with the People of the Book unless it be in a way that is better, save with such of them as do wrong; and say we believe in that which has been revealed to us and to you; and our God and your God is one and unto Him we submit" [29:46]

Quran on the TRINITY:
"Oh People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion, nor say of God anything but the truth. Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, was [no more than] a messenger of God, and His Word which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him. So believe in God and His messengers. Say not, "Trinity." Desist! It will be better for you, for God is One God, Glory be to Him! [Far exalted is He] above having a son. To Him belong ALL things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs" [4:171]

"If only they [i.e. Christians] had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course, but many of them follow a course that is evil" [5:66]

Was Islam the first to accuse the Jews of deliberate perversion of their Sacred Text?
NO. The charge dates back to Jeremiah, one of their own Prophets: "And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. [Je.23:36]
In the NT also there are several allusions to the Jews corrupting and perverting the words of God, as on 2 Cor.2:17 and 1 Ti.1:10. That the books of the OT exist now in their original purity is not the position of anybody today, not even of the most conservative Jew.
