Why the hell did you shave?

1) I don't recognize you.

2) Oddly enough, the beard makes you look younger.

This is the one where it all came together.

Better music has been released since, but this song will always have the virtue of being first. It established a formula AND smashed it out of the park in the process.

This is my four year old son's favorite song. One does wonder why he can get it right where label executives can't.

James turns in some solid solos during that period, but he's no Alex.

A song that extracts the most from the talents of everyone involved. A true team effort.

It isn't their best song...but only because Alex pulls out an inhuman solo on Practice. From a songwriting perspective, it doesn't get any better than this. Why they don't play this one at every concert is beyond me.

Intro win.

Not that the rest of the song is bad or anything (because it isn't). Just that the first :50 set an impossible standard to live up to, no matter how hard the bass tries.

Find me a better solo. I dare you.

I love this song because it's Satch's musical rejoinder to the great shredding songs - Practice What You Preach, the front side of Rust in Peace, etc. This song boldly highlights Satch's strengths as a songwriter - on that dimension, he destroys the thrash classics. On the other hand, he fails ...

It's hard to beat the win that is generated by Chuck Billy's lyrics on a (somewhat) laid-back Testament song and the drum wizardry that is Dave Lombardo.

Strong track. Musically sound, and the lyrics reflect what the members have to be going through right now.

I can appreciate the desire for the previous sound, but the reality is that they aren't living what generated WoT right now...and shouldn't be, if you understand the music business.

Pure. How it was done (well) in 1990.

Generous of Ty to take a back seat to the rhythm section in this one. It's pretty obvious who the principal songwriter was here, but what made this early work great is that the contributions of others weren't marginalized. A masterpiece.

At the risk of disrespecting pantheon songs I love like Visions and Moanjam, this is the tune that always kicks a venue's ass.

What stands out here is the disservice that late '80s album production did to their true sound. Gretchen doesn't even come close to capturing that bass tone; the best that can be said is that it hints at it.

Michael Palin got all the lines in this film. After many viewings, he has all the lines that still make me laugh.

Tremendously glad that I remember where I was the night Cobain died. That way I don't have to explain why my limited understanding of music at the time dictated my apparent opinion that they were bad that night. After all, I didn't run out and buy all of their discs.
