I agree with "having your way with a piece is OK because we already know the original" but I do feel he is breaking up the flow of the song too much here with his ad-libs.

I'm confused. If this were a statement like it was when Hendrix played it, he sure succeeded in showing the ugly face of the U.S. of A. But then his introduction didn't sound like sarcasm to me. Did he just have a couple of beers too many before getting on stage?

Apart from the rigid rhythm it seems hard to play because there hardly seems to be any reference in the music, like he would have to remember a lot. Or I just don't get the logic in the music yet from hearing it the first time.

The song survived 30 years, as did most of the Rainbow legacy. RB is both a crappy, limited player AND a great guitarist. There aren't too many who can do so much with so little.

@amkrtchyan Come on, this if wonderful. He's teaching, enabling us to follow what he does. If you want rhythm go listen to your washing machine. This guy has a great tone and good timing and is too modest to show his face. He's not recording or performing, I can tell he would have plenty of rhyth...

And this may be the first iteration of some new development. The first electronic keyboard (one note at a time, no attack sensitivity) sucked to...

@llortcanada Dislike may be a bit strong, I would not say it's bad but I sure can relate to people who hit that button. I didn't know any of his music, I just heard he would be a top guitar player so I looked him up on youtube and I must say I don't feel he's al he's cracked up to be. I don't car...

I don't like the timing, it kills the piece. It sounds hasty and rushing. The song should make you feel at ease, that's what it is about and it does that perfectly when played in a moderate and steady tempo.

Good education but what a head splitting horrible tone. He should have used a clean sound to make it more bearable.

I also think he would do better if he were sober. But then again he would think twice before puting this online. I also am irritated by the careless visuals. Put on some trousers, sit on a chair, get rid of that keyboard for crying out loud. But apart from a couple of "ouches" it was pretty impes...

I am inclined to hit dislike too just for being tricked into this video by the abuse of some famous names. The saddest thing is I still don't know who these guys are. They obviously kick ass, despite the crappy video. So what's the point?

@jellytroid Maybe not exactly but I've heard more guitarists who gave me a headache with their tone. Guthry can play like Vai without the headache part. I prefer that to the original.

Vai is being bashed a lot mainly because he has been able to sell what he does better than any of his fellow gui...

@reapertcm Most of what I've seen of Becker boils down to "Look, I can do arpeggios!" Good for him. I don't want to discredit JB in any way, I wish I could do arpeggios like him. I am just not impressed when it comes to making a pleasurable listening experience.
