We must move forward, not backward! Upward, not forward! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!
"I have no fear that the result of our experiment will be that men may be trusted to govern themselves without a master."
- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to David Hartley (1787)

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...
This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized."
- Edward Bernays, 'Propaganda' (1928)

About Me:
While most of my playlists chronicle some of the major problems in the world today, the playlist "'Libertarian Socialism (Anarchism)" and most of the channels to the right offer potential solutions. Check them out!

"I am truly free only when all human beings, men and women, are equally free. The freedom of other men, far from negating or limiting my freedom, is, on the contrary, its necessary premise and confirmation."
- Mikhail Bakunin

I'm very interested in propaganda, which is convenient considering we're constantly bombarded by it on a daily basis. The more you learn about propaganda the less you are affected by it. I highly recommend the documentaries "Century of The Self" and "Manufacturing Consent" if you'd like to learn about the history of modern propaganda ("public relations") and its profound impact on American society. They are both available for free viewing right here on YouTube.

About the background:
"Wake Up, America!" - US, 1917
Draped in patriotic attire, Columbia, the feminine personification of the United States of America, sleeps soundly as the smoke and flames from war-torn Europe rise in the background. She is wearing a star-spangled Phrygian cap, a representation of freedom and the pursuit of liberty. Part of a massive propaganda effort undertaken by Woodrow Wilson's Committee on Public Information, the headline of this poster calls for all citizens to pay attention to the events unfolding around them and prepare for America's entry into WWI.
The artist, James Montgomery Flagg, is the creator of the popular masculine personification of the US, Uncle Sam.
About the userpic:
"Искореним Шпионов И Диверсантов," USSR, 1937
The text of the original poster roughly translates as "Eradicate Spies and Saboteurs, Trotskyist-Bukharin Agents of Fascism!" Released during the rule of Joseph Stalin, this poster was part of the counter-revolutionary measures undertaken in the Soviet Union. Soviet leadership was always more concerned with retaining power than providing for the working class. In 1927, Article 58 was enacted, which declared any act against the government to be "counter-revolutionary" (in fact, it was the exact opposite). Punishments included imprisonment, confiscation of property, and execution. In 1937, section 58-14 was added, which applied to "counter-revolutionary sabotage." This poster may be a direct of result of Article 58-14. "Trotkyist-Bukharin Agents of Fascism" is a reference to Leon Trotsky and Nikolai Bukharin, two outspoken opponents of Stalinism. The accusation of Fascism is a common technique of slander by the Communist party.
I made some significant changes to this poster. I strongly disagree with the policies that this poster represents, so I changed the text to read "Eradicate Spies and Saboteurs, Corporatist Agents of Fascism!" The worker's shirt was originally red and the snake was darker. I changed the shirt to blue to better represent the 'blue-collar worker' and lightened the snake to provide more contrast. This also creates a red-white-blue color scheme in the center. The background was originally plain black, which I changed to represent the red and black flag of anarcho-syndicalism, worker's democratic self-management.

I've been working 2 jobs while going to school though, so I don't really have time for any marching or occupying. I live in a very conservative state, and the occupy movement here frizzled out pretty quick. The only stronghold is a 2 hour drive away. Most of my interactions with them have been online.
What I mean by get more serious, is having more direct action. They are mostly trying to form and spread ideas. I've been doing exactly that for years. I'm ready to start building Co-operatives, learn and teach skills, destabilize the Capitalist economy, setting up our own community guards so we don't need police, building infrastructure, growing our own food. Some of them are starting to do that but it hasn't reached here yet. When it does I'll be ready.
I am not taking part in OWS. All the major things people have realized and done, I've already realized and done years ago. I stand idly by waiting for them to ask my assistance once they decide to get more serious. So far I feel its mostly just mainstream moderate statists, which is to be expected from any popular movement.
joy and wonder to you, Mars2O84,
