Marie Celeste once started out as a side-project of friends somewhere in 2003. Old band members left, new members joined, until the band reached its current line-up in the summer of 2006. Marie Celeste are Hilde Westerink on guitar and vocals, Leyla Overdulve on bass and Cisca Bronswijk on drums. The band is from the Rotterdam area in the Netherlands.
As true children of the nineties, Marie Celeste are an indie-sleaze experience with a noisy and grungy edge. Conforming to one kind of genre is not their aspiration, but they cannot deny the sounds and bands that formed them as teenagers. They step into the rehearsal space, contributing their personal musical backgrounds, their love for rocking hard without any restriction, and a shared conviction that music is something you cannot fake.
