Marble Avenue is a portuguese punk/rock band from Coimbra, formed in 2009. They first started as an acoustic trio, but they wanted more and that was when Noddy joined the band, assuming the drummer's position.
The band was officially formed by João Zagar (lead guitar/backing vocals), Noddy Assunção (drums), Afonso Cheung (bass guitar) and Maria Miguel (lead vocals) in 2009.
Back then they gave many nonprofit concerts in their hometown, within which they had the opportunity to play with the american five-man high-energy machine, Prima Donna.
Still in 2010, Fábio (bass player) joined the band so they would have a greater leeway during the process of composing their songs.
The band's first song written together was "Blurred Eyes", which was later used the following spring released first EP, "Welcome to the Avenue".
Additionally, the process of making Welcome to the Avenue seems to have taught the group - Maria, guitarists João and Cheung, drummer Noddy and bassist Fábio -countless lessons about who they are both inside and outside of Marble Avenue.
The quintet's emo-pop and anthemic rock-influenced melodies and earnest charisma has given various concerts throughout their country (usually being driven by João's parents), while waiting for an opportunity to leave.
Anyone who has seen the band live shows already knows Marble Avenue have an incendiary live show.
Recently, Fábio left the band, citing personal reasons, and was replaced by Willy.
