Maragtas Ethno Tribal Band

"Maragtas"meaning "history" it is a hiligaynon karay-a dialect, that tells about the legend of 10 datu or chieftain who escaped from Borneo and went to Panay. They bought the whole island with a salakot of gold from an aeta. Since then it was allegedly the start of the tribal bloodline of Hiligaynons,Cebuanos, Warays and Bojolanos. As an ethno tribal Band, we are now given the task by history to spread the music of the nativeland that is gradually fading from the memories of the people. We aim that we will spread the native music to the whole archipelago in order to remind the people of its "history", love the environment, culture and native traditions. Meanwhile, other sources would say that maragtas also mean "great people", indeed as a band by starting to love the native music we will be remind of how "great we are as a people".
