Some biographic information about the Swedish-Italian concert pianist Manlio Giordano follows.
Giordano finished his studies at Lund University, Sweden (one of the world's oldest universities), for a B.A. in musical arts at age 18, and an M.A. at age 20, under the supervision of prof. Michal Wesolowski (heir of Igumnov of the "Russian school" of piano playing), after having gained admission with the highest marks of all applicants to both Lund University and the Royal Conservatory in Stockholm, Sweden. After the several competition rounds that are part of the admission procedure, the 15-year-old Giordano was deemed apt even for post-graduate level of study by the head juror in Stockholm and during his first semester of study in Stockholm, he was publicly named "The most advanced and independent student I have ever taught" by the head professor at the time, prof. Laszlo Simon of Hungary (presently professor of piano at Universität der Künste in Berlin).
Subsequently, Giordano studied for Björn Ejdemo (formerly a student of the great Stanislaw Knor) at Piteå School of Music, Sweden, and for legendary prof. Peter Feuchtwanger in London. In 2001, Prof. Feuchtwanger wrote that "Manlio Giordano is one of the most prodigiously gifted pianists I have heard in a long time and I can highly recommend him..."
Giordano was born in Rome, Italy, to a father who was a financier and electronics engineer and a mother working for the European Space Agency. He came with his mother to Sweden at an early age, where he grew up. Although no one played a musical instrument among his living relatives in Sweden, he began his formal piano studies already at age three.
Giordano started giving live performances at age five and performed his own music on the Swedish national radio at age 10. Giordano's performances have received excellent reviews without exception and he has been awarded several prestigious prizes (including the Rubus Arcticus prize) and scholarships. Giordano has appeared on the Swedish national television and has first-performed contemporary music on the Swedish national radio. He has given performances throughout Scandinavia, as well as in other countries.
Giordano is currently based in Malmö, Sweden. Beyond his frequent stage appearances with performances of solo works, chamber music and improvisations, he is preparing for the recording of a new DVD and 2-CD album with solo works (many of them in his own arrangements) in the Studio Acusticum (the new state-of-the-art recording studio in Piteå, Sweden).
Giordano is open to suggestions from record companies, film producers, artist management agencies etc.
Giordano has also studied natural science, mathematics, medicine, and languages for several degrees at university level, has been involved in research projects (in analytical chemistry and neurosurgery), and may hold a national record for high-school grades.
