About Manifestatheist's channel
I recently allowed myself to say the dreaded words, "I am an atheist." After years of studying the bible, it has convinced me that it is contradictory, unreliable, and fails as a book of morals. Interestingly enough, now when I read it, I do so from the perspective that it is a book of myth like the Odyssey or Iliad, or any other ancient manuscript; and with that perspective, I have found a new appreciation for the book. Instead of a guide for life, I see each book as a snapshot in the life of some writer(s), who was just trying to make sense of the world in a time when nothing really made sense. The poetry of Ecclesiastes is among the best macabre prose I have read, and shows the raw understanding and honest vantage of one person trying to make sense of his own mortality. I challenge you to take this approach and reread parts of the bible that always intrigued you--I think you will find a new appreciation as I have. In the near future I plan to make some videos expounding on this perspective as well as some other views I hold. All are welcome, and as with other rational-minded thinkers, I will censor no comments. I believe everyone should have their voice heard, even if only to expose their ignorance.

I'm a closet atheist, but hope that someday I will have the courage to "come out", though I have no immediate plans to do so. Most people I know who came out had horrible experiences with their families; my parents are old and I am patient, and have no moral issues with living a lie until they pass."The only hope I garner from the Bible is the certainty that it's god is not real."
