Overview In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm building green affordable housing on a large scale to help those families most in need after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. That same group now formally comprises the Make It Right Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to helping former resident families of the Lower 9th Ward rebuild their lives and community. Funding from donors contributes directly toward the initial goal of rebuilding at least 150 safe, healthy, environmentally sustainable, affordable homes for families from the Lower 9th Ward who would otherwise be unable to assemble the means to return home and restore their lives.
Mission "To be a catalyst for redevelopment of the Lower 9th Ward, by building a neighborhood comprised of safe and healthy homes that are inspired by Cradle to CradleSM thinking, with an emphasis on high-quality design, while preserving the spirit of the communitys culture"
