The Majestic Voices, formerly known as the "Junior Angelics" is one of Selma's most widely known and loved singing groups. The group was named in honor of its parent group, "The Angelic Harmonizers." As small children the group traveled with their parents and as a result developed a love for singing. In 1991, the group was formally organized at the home of Roy & Minnie McMillan in Selma, Alabama. Original membership included eight members. In 1995, the Junior Angelics transitioned in membership, many were added, and many were subtracted as the group began to mature. From this maturation, many members believed they had outgrown their former name. As a result, in 2001, the name changed to the "Majestic Voices." The Majestic Voices are known for its close, rich, and well balanced harmony. The group closely resembles a family rather than merely individuals. They sing the praises of God, sometimes acapella, others with the aid of musical instruments. The Majestic Voices are well loved throughout the Selma area where they minister at choir anniversaries, nursing homes, high schools, colleges, and programs to benefit the needy. The Majestic Voices have performed all across the nation, from the Great State of Alabama to the Great Lakes of Michigan. The group has ministered at programs and concerts in Miami, FL; Starkville, MS; Chicago, IL; Fort Wayne, IN and Griffin, GA. Their professional resume includes the release of a demo CD in 2005 titled, "MV4." The most widely recognized songs from the CD are "He's Coming Back" and "Call on Jesus." Current projects include their new album "Majestic" which was released October 2, 2011. On September 11, 2008, the Majestic Voices family suffered a great loss. One of the founding members of the group, a sister to the members, Ms. Shoshana R. Thomas was suddenly taken away. She will be missed dearly; however, the Lord has blessed them with another sister, Mrs. Jerneral Bell-Ellis. The Majestic Voices currently consists of four members: Mrs. Erica Maxwell-England, Ms. Nikita McMillan, Mrs.Shemika Morgan-Brown, and Mrs. Jerneral Bell-Ellis. These young women are truly the pride of the Black Belt and the praise of Selma.
