I'm sure my ideas will upset the greeks and their little cabal so I will attempt to educate them on how to deal with their little dilemma. The greeks should learn some basic reasoning and argument mapping by my example, first form a counterargument also known as a rebuttal, which is an objection to the point you find so objectionable. A credible counterargument is used to rebut an objection to a premise, a main contention or a lemma of an argument or its conclusion. A personal attack simply shows an inability to employ this simple yet effective strategy.
A good rebuttal might seek to cast reasonable doubt on the truth of one or more of the first argument's premises, or to show that the first argument's contention does not follow from its premises in a valid manner. An excellent rebuttal might even pay less attention to the premises and common structure of the first argument and simply attempt to demonstrate the truth of a conclusion derived from the premise of the argument is incompatible with that of the first argument.
An intellectually honest debate tactic will reveal errors and omissions in an opponents facts and logic and, support their own facts with credible and verifiable references.
Those unable to honestly debate depend on the following tactics: name calling, changing the subject, false premise, hearsay, sloganeering, playing on widely held fantasies, stereotyping, scapegoating, the Straw Man where the debater attacks an argument that is easy to refute but which is also an argument that no one has made in the debate, argument from intimidation and, innuendo. The dishonest debater may attempt to validate their position through logical fallacies such as: argumentum ad antiquitatem , argumentum ad hominem, argumentum ad ignorantiam, argumentum ad logicam ,argumentum ad misericordiam ,argumentum ad nauseam, argumentum ad numerum, argumentum ad populum, argumentum ad verecundiam, circulus in demonstrando, complex question, dicto simpliciter, naturalistic fallacy, nature appeal to, non sequitur, petitio principii, post hoc ergo propter hoc, red herring, slippery slope and, tu quoque.
Many examples of bad and dishonest debate tactics can clearly be seen in the posts left behind by my opponents!
