The MUD were a band form Portugal, active in the late 90´s to the mid 2000´s.
They invented the so called Rural Lisnave working class south side rock,and altough they had a short career, obtained a mythical status in the Amora and Seixal zone ( citys from south side of Lisbon )
The band started when in late 1998 Nuno Albuquerque aka «SEPS» ( rithm guitar and vocals ) met André Vitorino, aka «ANDRUGA» in the high school.
By the time they both seek oportunity to start something in the music panorama, and the providence did the rest.
Tiago Cardoso aka «CARDAS» , ( and old friend of Nuno ) joined the group as lead guitar player and vocals, and later Eurico Maia, aka «EURICANTE» completed the band as bass player.
Influences at that time come from many diferent things, since mixed feelings of rage and pseudo depression, to drunkness, and the working class environment of Amora city.
In 1999 the band started musical activity, with several semi acustic gigs in CARDAS house.
Altough they play a number of covers like Clash, Xutos, Slipknot, Nirvana and Violent Femmes, the original themes started being produced very early, a sinthom of precoce musical genius.
« Noite da blackagem », « Sarcastic », and « Napalm » ( all of them anthems nowdays ) were all composed in those times.
The next step was the electrification of the songs.
Several jam sessions were made in studios, in Lisbon ( Paiva Couceiro ) and Amora ( Gestesom ),and at the same time, semi acoustic gigs continued.
By the year 2002 the band ceased activity, derived from multiple factors in each member.
School, girlfriends, and other things were the main cause, altough MUD never close the door to a comeback.
That comeback became true in late 2004, and continues until early 2005, with a new member in the band.
Long time friend João Barata, aka «JP» replaced Eurico Maia in bass guitar.
Maia was not able to sustain the pressure from his girlfriend, and quit the band.
The new jam sessions were made in Barata´s house, in wich he had a full equiped recording studio.
From that sessions came out MUD´S last original song to the date, « CURRUCUCU » or « Deixa-me ir-te ao cu »
« Napalm Rain » was remaked, with new powerfull solos, and covers from several bands like FIscher Z and Flock of seaguls were produced.
The rural working class style was back again in those years.
Since then the band ceased again activity, and no more recording sessions or jam sessions were made.
Recently a rumor was spread telling that the band are prepared to re join for a last original recording, before oficially stop the musical activity.
Until now there was no confirmation in those rumors.
