Change to 8mm pocket bike chain and sprockets. You will need the shift kit pedal arms from Sick Bike Parts. I use pocket bike freewheels and 8mm(TLF) chain, sprockets and 4-bolt freewheels. Better gear ratios to choose from. get the pocket bike parts off ebay cheap. You can pedal with the setu...

Maybe you need to hold your shifts longer.

With a 44-tooth sprocket and no shift kit, your gear ratio is 18.26:1.

At 45 mph, your engine is turning 10,600 rpm, which is way past this engine's redline.

How long can you hold this speed? Is this downhill or flat ground?

I'm 5-7HEAVEN. My bike was a Raleigh girlie bike, twin 2.2 hp Mitsubishi engines, 1.5" friction drive rollers. Top speed 40 mph on the flats. The bike is history now. It was replaced by a Diamondback bike with Tanaka 47R engine and 8-speed transmission.
