# 1-Rated Spanish Radio Station, Mia 92.1 FM, Gives Away a Brand New 2009 Honda Fit to Rafael Pineiro.
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA June 13th, 2009: A Clear Channel Communications station and the #1 rated Spanish radio station in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties, WRLX, Mia 92.1 FM, gave away a brand new 2009 Honda Fit on June 13th, 2009 from 4PM to 7PM in the parking lot of the Rum-bass nightclub in West Palm Beach. This was a culmination of a 7 week promotion called Cambia Tu Vida Con Mia (Change Your Life With Mia), which was sponsored by Mia 92.1 FM, Rumbass Nightclub, Braman Honda, El Bodegon Supermarkets and Isle Casino of Pompano Beach.
The event started with DJ Chief Ray Hernandez spinning music live, followed by live performances by Raggaeton artist Nate, and pop sensation pEriKo. Mega TV, La Palma, The Palm Beach Post and El Hispano were present to cover this family friendly occasion, as well as enjoy all the activities prior to the final drawing. There were bounce houses, tons of free giveaways and spin-wheel prizes. Refresh-ments, snacks and Mia Pizzas were handed out free by El Bodegon Supermarkets and Pizza Hut. Braman Honda also had a new models car show and gave away silver key chains. The Mia On-Air talent was present to sign autographs and take pictures as the countdown to the final winner was broad-casted LIVE on Mia 92.1 FM.
Once underway, the 21 finalists were asked to pick a key, and only one of those keys was to open the car. The first failed attempt to open the vehicle was made by finalist Carlos Escobar of Lake Worth, the second by Caridad Alvarez of West Palm Beach, the third by Rodulfo Morales of Lake Worth. When the fourth contestant was up, tension was brewing as he shook trying to fit his key in the keyhole. Within seconds an uproar from the crowd, as 52 year-old Rafael Pineiro from Miramar made Mia history by becoming the first person to win a car sponsored by the station. Pineiro was born and raised in Puerto Rico and employed by IBM as a Power Platform Sales Specialist. He had originally registered at Isle Casino of Pompano Park and was completely shaken with emotion. He claimed he was in very desperate need of reliable transportation. The ceremony ended with cheers, a crown-ing, consolation prizes for the other finalists and a burst of media rush to get glimpses of the grand prize winner.
WRLX, Mia 92.1 FM, was established on December 5th, 2007 and is the first major all-Spanish FM radio station in Palm Beach county. KooL, WilD, WJNO, WBZT, The GATER and Real Radio, are some of its parent stations at Clear Channel Communications in West Palm Beach.
