It's not dumb. The phrase "digging to china" is dumb because it implies China lies opposite of the US (or anywhere they say that except parts of Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay).

This is my favourite movie don't take me the wrong way but your criticism doesn't really make much sense.

Are those first few seconds from the final film? That really looks like stop/go motion and not much like CG at all.
