Semi Final: Darcey Bussell's Jive
It's the semi finals of Strictly Come Dancing and the pressure is mounting. Meanwhile, Darcey Bussell performs a Jiv...
Didn't do a lot for me, there was far too much 'classical' in it, all the 'splits' - vertical or horizontal, were nothing but showboating her abilities to do it and not anything to do with a jive. Compared to Jill Halfpenny's jive - nowhere near it!!

John Fogerty - Rockin' All Over The World
John Fogerty - Rockin' All Over The World (Los Angeles 15 sept 2005)
It's a fabulous song which in Europe in synonimous with Status Quo, who covered it in 1977 to iconic effect. I bought the album in 1975 and it took me a long time to really appreciate the Quo version (depite being a Quo fan at the time) and even to this day if forced to choose I'd take the JF stu...

AMAZING GRACE
one of the most beautiful songs in this incandescent universe....
Stunningly beautiful. So many artists (& their auntie) have done a version of this song but this is by far and away the best and most heartfelt version I have ever heard - a fabulous example of less is more. No quasi-operatic multi-choral vocals, no huge orchestral accompaniment, simply one man ...

Neil Diamond - To Make You Feel My Love
Very pretty version from 'Home Before Dark' (Deluxe Edition).
This really is wonderful, understated and sounds really heartfelt. Some songs just need to be stripped bare for the emotion to really come through. A ND & DB classic.

Elton John - Abide With Me
From:
An audience with Elton John 1997
Can't make up his mind whether it's a-bide with me or A-Bide with me, it's a bit too melodramatic and actually a bit emotionless for me.

A very 'traditional' traditional song. Vocals fine, guitar - well does ever Mike have a bad day in the guitar department - of course he doesn't! Perhaps not the most accessible song he's ever done for the casual listener/viewer but I like it.

Another gem of a song sung by Mike, I never cease to be ......... well I'm not sure 'entertained' is the right word - and 'moved' doesn't seem right either it's sort of a mixture of both, and a very enjoyable experience it is. As ever, thanks Mike.

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER
Canadian singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie wrote this but Donovan did a great cover in the UK.. great song as relevant now as it was then..
Wonderful in it's political naivety that it thinks any individual soldier has any influence on whatever war is going on on this planet. But it is a great song and Mike does a (as usual) a fabulous version.

Greatest Guitar Solo Ever
I love this solo. Musical legend!
Greatest guitar solo ever, on come on , nothing like it. It's good but not that great, actually it was Eric C guitar that Gently Weeped on the album (not Geoge's - and I'm aware this isn't implied here) and the thing here that just doesn't quite do it for me is that there just too much guitar - l...

Will Young sings Leave Right Now on American Idol 9 Final Tribute night.
