Grew up north of the Canadian border outside the town of Rochester, Michigan, which is north of Detroit, which in turn is north of Windsor, Ontario.Had ya goin' there, didn't I? :)
I lived there until 1975, and moved here to Mesa, Arizona, to take part in the dry heat. Not quite so dry in July and August during the Monsoon (seasonal wind shift) season. This seasonal wind shift starts pumping tropical moisture from Mexico, and then together with the heating of the desert, we get these sometimes big dust storms and sudden thunderstorms.
Now rumor has it that a thunderstorm disintegrated over Tucson and its outflow caused the July 5, 2011 dust storm that was 7000 feet high and 100 miles wide, which swept through the valley. Methinks someone in the Governor's Office let one rip, and they're still airing out the ninth floor of the Capitol Building! xD
I still use Syntrillium Software's Cool Edit 96, an excellent shareware ($40) audio editor, purchased fifteen years ago. Syntrillium was located here in Phoenix, Arizona before Adobe bought it out. Adobe has continued the Cool Edit line under its own brand, but dropped this program from Syntrillium's lineup. I can certainly say that I have gotten my money's worth!
I am fluent in three languages. They are English, Morse code and Foul. I reserve the Foul language for my private discussions with my computer and other inanimate objects that don't comply with my wishes. :)
I grew up hearing another kind of profanity, which one rarely ever hears or sees even on the Internet. Such words and phrases as, "What in the world?," "Who in the heck," "Where the dickens," "Doggone it!," "Dagnabbit!!," and "Oh my word!"
I don't think the "new and improved" is all that much of an improvement!!! And unfortunately, I don't hear it used and make use of it as I should instead of the other $%#!! out there. :)
Great Don Gibson tune!
