About Me:

Have you ever been sick or had to work or are out of town on a Sunday and miss going to church? (Yes, this is a rhetorical question, but let's just assume that at this moment you are shouting, "Why, as a matter of fact, I have!" at your computer screen.)

I've found plenty of excellent podcasts and videos of sermons online, but I still find myself missing those great Lutheran hymns on those occasions when I can't make it to worship.

So, my thought was to have a li'l old Lutheran sing-a-long right in my living room, and I thought I'd invite all of you to join me. That way, you can have your own whole worship service from anywhere you can access the internet.

Ordinarily, of course, I'd prefer the hymns accompanied by organ, but as there is a dearth of church organs in my living room at the moment, my piano will have to do. And, as to the touchy matter of hymnal preference (and I know this a serious matter to us Lutherans)... I grew up using TLH and LW (or red and blue for those who prefer the color-based hymnal identification system) and being a good Lutheran, I'm pretty resistant to change, so I wasn't exactly throwing a potluck celebration when my church moved over to LSB. But I have to say that I'm starting to embrace it.

My goal is to make my way through the entire hymnal, including liturgy, but as I have a feeling this particular goal is laughably optimistic, I decided to start with just a few of my favorites.

I'd be happy to take requests, if anybody has a favorite hymn from the red, blue, or (what color is the LSB anyway? burgundy?) LSB hymnals. In the meantime, I'll try to throw in some old favorites, as well as some that are appropriate for the current season of the church year.

(And please do leave comments, whether they be of the nice or not-so-nice variety. Laughing at myself is one of my favorite activities, and I do realize that putting oneself on YouTube is basically an invitation for all the punctuation-challenged criticism you're sure to receive.)

Thanks for listening!

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Colossians 3:16-17

Thank you so much for posting these. I've been singing these hymns all my life and they are a great source of comfort. Also, your performances are delightful.

A special request Hello L.W., I have a request for a lutheran hymn #958 Our Father Who Art In Heaven. My Pastor is Kurt Reinhardt who wrote "Baptismal Waters Cover Me" and that is truly one of my favorites. Thank you & God's blessings! A.C.J

Would love to hear 539, but as we head to Lent, 432 is one of the most beautiful Lent hymns they added to LSB.

Always enjoying listening to all your hymns. Do you have "Stand Up Stand Up For Jesus" in your book? That would be a great one!

You said you're "happy to take requests," so how about LSB 332 - Savior of the Nations, Come? I know we're past Advent, but it's a favorite.

And please, whatever you do, don't stop singing the hymns and putting them on here! You have been blessed with a beautiful singing voice and being able to come onto Youtube and hear you sing is wonderful! You've become on of my top 3 Youtube channels, and I speak for many when I say "God bless" and "keep up the good work!"
