I liked Prototype more because it was more realistic. Not the superpowers themselves but how they came to be. Genetically engineered super-virus is way cooler and more "real" than a magic explosion. At least for me it is. Besides halfway through the story it felt great knowing I wasn't human.

As a biotechnician I find it hard to believe that genetically modified foods would cause the existence of these creatures. GM food accounts for nearly 90% of processed foods. I think more people would be complaining if this were the case.
