Who am I?
My name is Lida and I am a Roma Gypsy woman (A Romnja). I am 3/4 Gypsy and 1/4 European and my parents are both also 3/4 Gypsy 1/4 European. I am traditional and do not like to be called an indian or anything related. My family taught me growing up that we came from Egypt over 2000 years ago but were enslaved by the Babylonians. We ran to India-the only place where we would be safe during the time. We personally hated being there and were disgusted by Hinduism. I am 100% okay with being called a Gypsy-or as my Nongypsy friends say-a Gyptian. :)

Gypsies in the United States History?
Gypsies have been in this country since it was first formed. Though they were not very common they were here. My my dad's direct male line (As in the Surname line-Though we stopped using that surname since it was just for keeping hidden) has been here since 1639. The rest of my family has been here since about mid 1700s to 1800s

My name is Lida Johnson (Roma Gypsies in the US use a common English surname to blend in) and I am a Roma Gypsy woman (A Romni). I am 3/4 Gypsy and 1/4 European and my parents are both also 3/4 Gypsy 1/4 European (Actually my mom is a bit more). AND my dad's parents are also 3/4 Gypsy and 1/4 European. My mom's dad is pure Gypsy and his family was sent here against their will. I am 100% okay with being called a Gypsy. Infact I prefer. Because nor Roma or Romani make any sense in our own language.
