East Ramapo School Board President Nathan Rothschild resigned from his position with the school district Friday amid charges accusing him of engaging in mail fraud while serving as the Monsey fire commissioner.

Rothschild appeared in Federal Court in White Plains earlier today, pleading not guilty to the felony charge, said Herb Hadad, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office.

East Ramapo Interim Superintendent of Schools Joel Klein said that to his knowledge, there are no allegations against Rothschild regarding any wrongdoing in East Ramapo.

Now taxpayers are paying $494,000 for two positions! Gov Cuomo wants pay for Superintendants of a district of this size to be capped at $175,000. Do you think the board was listening to the Governor?

SPRING VALLEY — With the Hillcrest Elementary School sale still in question, an East Ramapo school district parent is challenging the leasing of the building to the Congregation Yeshiva Avir Yakov and the Clarkstown school district.
In his petition to the state Department of Education filed this week, Antonio Luciano states that the rental agreements were not reached through competitive bidding and are far below market value.
