Lubix Cube - World Class Speed Cubes -
About Me:
I like helping out the cubing community where I can, and have sponsored several WCA competitions, the CubeCast Podcast, and have donated a bunch of Lubix Silicone, and several dozen of my Ultimate Lubix GuHongs and Lubix ELITE's.
I've been cubing about 3 1/2 years or so. Don't remember exactly when I started. I started out using Petrus Method, getting a PB of 15.36 with that.
After meeting Richard Meyer at Nationals 2010, and spending some time with him and Patrick Kelly in New York, they taught me the basics of the Roux Method which I switched to in November of 2010 after the Cubetcha competition in MN.
My PB solve for the 3x3 is 14.81 (using Roux), and I wish I had it on video. (Edit Again) New PB 14.75. (Edit Again... 12.73, Yay, out of the teens for PB... 9.99 here I come! lol) No vid, but I have the scramble, and will be doing a reconstruction of the solve later
For competition, my best single times are:
2x2 = 4.80
3x3 = 21.93
3x3 OH = 1:07.40
4x4 = 2:17.40
5x5 = 5:22.88
Magic = 1.94
Master Magic = 5.46
My current average over 100's of solves seems to hover around 22 seconds. Out of 100 solves, I get around 7 of them sub 20. So my goal at the moment, is to learn more CMLL's and help push that average down.
I'm the guy who came up with the 48 point edge mod on the GuHong, and created a pretty popular version of it called the "Ultimate Lubix GuHong". It was the fastest cube in the world thanks to Feliks Zemdegs using it for a 6.65 second solve. He's amazing!
(Update)
He's broken his own record (again) and now has a 5.66 second solve using I believe a prototype white Dayan ZhanChi. I'll be carrying the Ultimate Lubix ZhanChi on my website in a few weeks.
This goes to show that while my Ultimate is a world record capable cube, the person behind the cube is what makes these world records possible. Congrats again Feliks, and the rest of you keep on practicing!
I also came up with more mods, and incorporated them into my main cube the ELITE.
I DJ on the weekends, and am an Audio Engineer freelancing for several companies in the US. Other than that, I simply use most of my free time to work on Lubix.
I work pretty hard at most everything, and find running Lubix to be both a lot of fun, and a lot of work. Even though, I look forward to seeing what the future holds for it. Ultimately I just want to travel around to competitions and meet people. It's a lot of fun!
My plans for the future, are to buy a boat and to do some sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, climbing, taking in the culture, the food, and what life has to offer.
