Now, for anyone who's going to give me shit for liking certain bands that they hate, don't bother wasting your time. What I chose to like is my business and nobody elses. What you think of something I like is your own opinion but keep in mind it is ONLY an opinion. Secondly, I don't get into bands by listening to the radio, or by watching MTV, Fuse, or any of that music media jibber-jabber (I don't even care to watch those channels, anyway). I surf the web, I research the bands, I research their influences or simlar bands. I explore, I learn, and I judge. I listen and decide what 'I" think of them, not what others think of them, kinda like what I do with bands like Slipknot where I ignore both the fanboys and the haters. I don't give a shit whether it's "mainstream" or not. Word of mouth is only a tool I use to learn of a band's existence.

Another thing you should know about me: Though I love all kinds of metal music, I'm really getting sick of how the metal community acts as of late. So many subgenres out there and they constantly bicker amongst themselves over what "true" metal is and what isn't, and throwing the words "poser" and "sellouts" around far too much. It' annoying as hell if you ask me. (I acknowledge that not all metalheads act like this, but far too many do for my taste).

I make an effort to be open minded about all subgenres of metal, even ones that are not unanimously considered to be "true metal," like nu metal and metalcore, and I have great respect for anyone who does the same.
