LORENA DAVID -- DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/EDITOR
Coming out of UC San Diego, Lorena David quickly became an accomplished editor and line producer thanks to her experience running UCSD's Hardcore Film Productions. But she wanted more. Thanks to an enormously successful partnership with Mark Roberts, Lorena has become a high-profile and prolific director/producer of independent films. In 1996 she produced her first film, PLUMP FICTION, a spoof of Tarantino films which was her brainchild along with comedy director, Bob Koherr. Next, David and producing partner Mark Roberts collaborated with Carlos Gallardo, star of El Mariachi on SINGLE ACTION and Lorena's directorial debut BRAVO. Springboarding from that she quickly moved into directing EASTSIDE and OUTTA TIME (Artisan Home Video). David's skills garnered rave reviews from critics ("Eastside is sharp, fast, energetic, yet has depth, dimension and wit." --Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times). These films led to her current directing effort EXTREME DATING which was released by Warner Home Video this Valentine's Day. Meanwhile Mark and Lorena decided to open up Roberts/David Films and continued producing with POOR WHITE TRASH and the feature film version of Comedy Central's STRANGERS WITH CANDY. Last year saw the release of her production DANIKA, a psychological thriller starring Marisa Tomei. Lorena is just finishing up her latest producing effort THE THACKER CASE a True Crime story starring Eliza Dushku and Gabriel Mann.
