Fell off chair laughing at this. Jimmy seemed to me to be a bit of a "dodgy Uncle" type character, you couldn't quite place him. Definitely one of lifes "characters", we're all a bit poorer for him going.

Yes, the white smoke is only unburnt fuel becuase of the cold engine. You waited at least a minute before revving it to help it on its way, good stuff. Sounds lovely.

@1LORDROBBIE You're obviously an idiot where it comes to mechanical devices. "Crashing the gears" is bad for the power train, and Gardner engines where amongst the smoothest, most fuel efficient and reliable diesel engines ever made.

well, youre sitting next to the exhaust stack (plastic "cupboard" sometimes visible on the left) so you'll get some resonance and noise from that, and the train is braking using its hydrodynamic brake, which raises engine revs to circulate the coolant faster and disspiate the energy from braking.

@wcmlfan And at £450 (just checked on cjm website) it bloody well ought to FFS ! Youre right there is no comparison - an £80 model and a £450 - so why try to make one......
