@contrymnon There are many of this work's performances available out there. You can try the 1976 DG recording with the Berliner for instance to get a more powerful one. He was a very fine specialist of the Mozart and Beethoven's repertoire. And they were composers he performed in very various ways.

@chronDiggity mostly because the story in the Nutcracker ballet is happening during Christmas I guess. You can read the tale by E.T.A Hoffman or the adaptation by Alexandre Dumas.
