A really weird week, this one. Well into the 20s for election day on the 1st, then this gave a brief covering of snow even for me in Worcestershire!

Magnus Pyke (playing the doc) was a famous TV scientist in the UK. He got really fed up with people coming up to him in the street and yelling, "Science!"

@mcdonaldo1003 Yes! This version is good, and v2, but I really miss that other one. I think it had Hakkinen driving up an ice course to the "There are a lot of people who are saying... well, this is ludicrous" bit. I thought I'd downloaded it, but no. Sigh.

British approach to someone annoying: wind them up mercilessly. American approach: blast away with a big gun. Seems pretty accurate to me.

@Loganberrybunny Only Richard Adams could tell you for sure, but I think it helps add that "non-human" feel to the characters without going the whole hog (or bunny!) and doing everything in a foreign language like Klingon etc.

Now this brings back memories... it was still being shown in the UK when I was little in the early 1980s. Known as "Champion the Wonder Horse" over here.

And as if by magic, as soon as a Shane/Angel storyline appears, Sally disappears for a while. I don't know whether there was anything in that, but I remember noticing even in the 1990s that you almost never got the two in the same episode, let alone actually interacting.

I remember this race. I was a huge Prost fan and Arnoux's constant blocking drove me mad. Sad, really -- Arnoux was a fine driver in his day, but he went on far too long.

Were these engines still in regular use by this time, or was it more a case of putting on a show for the camera? Either way, absolutely fascinating video.

Now that's adding a bit of class to proceedings!
