"Living in Emergency" is a documentary film on Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) that tells the story of four doctors confronting the challenges of their work and the limits of their idealism, in the extreme settings of Liberia and Congo. Designed to immerse people in the world of Doctors Without Borders, the film seeks to viscerally portray the real life of doctors in the field with the aim of encouraging a better understanding of their work and engaging people in the difficulties and dilemmas they face. It premiered at the 2008 Venice Film Festival, made its U.S. debut at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival and will be released theatrically in 2009.
