http://pain-freeperiods.com "The Butter Queen," Paula Deen has found herself in some serious hot water y'all — and we aren't talking about the kind she uses to boil for her son Bobby's favorite sausage potato salad either.
After the celebrity chef known for measuring butter for her recipes by the pound announced that she has Type II diabetes, we soon learned that in addition to lying, by omission, to her loyal fans — she also hid her disease from her bosses over at the Food Network as well.
Some Startling Facts About Diabetes:
Total: 25.8 million children and adults in the United States—8.3% of the population—have diabetes.
Diagnosed: 18.8 million people Undiagnosed: 7.0 million people Pre-diabetes: 79 million people New Cases: 1.9 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older in 2010.
Cost of Diabetes:
$174 billion:Total costs of diagnosed diabetes in the United States in 2007
$116 billion for direct medical costs
$58 billion for indirect costs (disability, work loss, premature mortality)
After adjusting for population age and sex differences, average medical expenditures among people with diagnosed diabetes were 2.3 times higher than what expenditures would be in the absence of diabetes.

Is Paul Deen's Mantra A Monster Of Our Own Creation?
The trouble is that we have yet to make, or accept, the connection between what we put in our mouths and the effects it has on our bodies. The Western dinner plate in dead-set (pun intended) on piling up heavily subsidized meats, heart-clogging oils and fried foods when growing evidence continues to point us to their deleterious effects.
The bigger issue here is that we, as individuals must stop putting so much stock in our celebrities. They are not to be seen as beacons of the moral brigade, they are merely paid workers on a larger scale and will make choices according to their own value system just like we do on a smaller scale.
Is Paula Deen A Hypocrite Or Are We?
Since so many people see the irony of her situation, perhaps this will be an opportunity for the connection between food and disease to have its time in the spotlight. Perhaps, films like Raw for 30 Days will have an opportunity to spread the message of healthy eating on an even larger platform. If you haven't seen the film, you should definitely check it out. It is a well-done documentary about Dr. Gabriel Cousen's work to cure diabetes with diet and lifestyle changes and the success his patients routinely experience.
So what do you think? Does Paula Deen's recent Type II Diabetes announcement make her an inspiration or hypocrite?

http://pain-freeperiods.com If I were to write a farewell love letter to Junk Food, this video is what I would have to say. Thanks to my little cousin Jayla for being such a good sport!
Good-bye Junk Food...I Love You
The day was so long, would it ever end? Because she had that menstrual cramping again. It caused her grief, tension, and pain Sometimes she felt she was going insane.
"Oh what can I do to relieve my discomfort? I'll do anything." She said in a blurt. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, She opened it slightly then opened it more.
For there on her stoop, amazing it seems, Were all of the junk foods looking surly and mean. The fries spoke first, "You eat too much salt, All those chips and fried foods are really at fault."
The burgers chimed in, "Oh no, it's the fat We're always quite greasy, just think about that." The brownies, and cookies, and cakes got together And said as a chorus, "You know it's the sugar!"
The sodas agreed and gave out a shout "Don't forget carbonation is what's it's about." Then somewhere in back of this of all this junk food A small voice asked, "Can I get through?"
A path was made and an apple appeared Making its way to the front from the rear. Then standing before this unlikely crowd The apple spoke crisply and it spoke loud & proud.
"All of you junk foods should share in the shame Of bringing a woman this kind of pain. The salt and the sugar, the grease and the fat, You should know better and more than that;
You clog up the veins and arteries too Making it hard for the blood to get through. You aggravate all of the cramping she's feeling So I banish you all and you will be leaving.
This woman will start a new life pain free By eating more veggies and fruits like me." The junk food sighed, and left right away And something wonderful happened that day.
The woman smiled, the cramping was gone, She even found herself singing a song. She thanked the apple for making it clear Of a new way to get through the rest of her years. And said, "Veggies and fruits should be in my diet, I know I'll feel better if I would just try it. Good-bye to all of you lousy foods That give me this awful pain you put me through."
The apple smiled and turned to leave Though premature and a little naïve, She scooped it up and took a bite, And the apple grinned, "To all a good life."
