Every university and college campus in BC is working towards having a lower energy and environmental footprint - which is saving money and fostering healthy and sustainable public institutions. One key driver for this action: Carbon Neutral Government.
Vancouver Island University has a very passionate team dedicated to taking action on climate change on their campus and in the community beyond. This video really highlights their good work and the benefits of sustainability goals.
British Columbia is at the forefront of the fight against climate change and with 2010 became the first major jurisdiction in North America (possibly the world) to achieve carbon neutral operations.
This means that B.C.'s entire public sector including schools, post-secondary institutions, government offices, Crown corporations and hospitals have all achieved net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Here is a list of some of the amazing stories from public sector organizations across the province that are working to reduce their carbon footprints and save energy and public funds in the process.
