About this user

I am the offspring of at least three racial groups associated with the founding peoples of Canada. In 1867, the British North America Act was passed by United Kingdom Parliament on the request of the majority of the Legislatures of the founding colonies.

The purpose of the BNA Act, 1867 was to provide a homeland "for all time to come" -- as declared in the Confederation Debates of 1865 -- for the descendants of the founding peoples of Canada.

In the past few decades, certain fundamental notions about the Canadian nation-state have been altered, and I suspect that the descendants of the founders, and those who came to Canada to adopt the Canadian culture and lifestyle, were not privy to, nor consenting to those changes.

In the past, a self-respecting nation-state only accepted immigrants willing to adopt the existing majority culture and lifestyle. In addition, immigration was used to bolster the work-force in areas where technical or scientific or other specialized expertise was required, and nobody in the existing Canadian pool of workers had the qualifications to fill an immediate need.

Now, however, everywhere I go, I seem to see foreigners not descended from the founding peoples, occupying every sort of garden-variety job, in some neighborhoods to the utter exclusion of founding Canadians themselves. I call them "foreigners" because they have foreign accents, they are newly minted, they are slinging trays at Burger King, or acting as cashiers in clothing stores and pharmacies. These are not skilled jobs requiring immigrants to fill them, therefore, in light of the Constitution of 1867, I have to ask myself if foreigners are in fact filling jobs that the descendants of founding Canadians, or of immigrants who adopted Canadian ways, would like to have to supply their own daily bread.

In the past few years, I have lived in neighbourhoods that are heavily populated with so-called "visible" minorities. The irony is, that the real "visible" minorities are the handful of English, Irish, French-Canadian or other caucasian founding stocks who happen to live here. The situation in the market makes this more apparent. I can't find cosmetics in the local pharmacies that match my skin color. I have to take a bus long distances now to get a bottle of Cover Girl rose or ivory. My race and color is being decreasingly served in stores in my own neighbourhoods.

Also, what is politically incorrect to recount--if you are a white person living in these areas--is the racism towards you exhibited by certain quarters. I have been gratuitously insulted by a female black Arab recent immigrant who overheard me speaking French and cut in to inform me, in French, "you don't belong here!" based on my accent. I was born here. But French-Canadian "separatism" is now the political religion of many incoming French-speaking immigrants from the conquered and assimilated former colonies of the French Empire, who aggressively seek to establish their own dominance conjointly with French-Canadians--who were never assimilated in the first place.

I first noticed the arrival of Islam in Montreal about 25 years ago one winter evening along Cote-des-Neiges when a turbaned Arab man let out a curse followed by a gob of spit aimed in my direction. I was modestly dressed in winter coat, slacks, boots and a neck-scarf. His female was bagged, veiled and obediently trailing a dozen paces behind him.

Not a month goes by in my current neighbourhood when I am not gratuitously singled out by someone of color for public humiliation. Last month, I walked into the job center and took a ticket off the machine at the door, intending to wait my turn in line. A pair of young black men, less than a third my age (me with my silver hair) were sitting beside the red ticket dispenser. They could have sat almost anywhere, some 20 seats were empty a few feet away. The instant I took my ticket, and walked toward a chair, I heard the young black yell at my back, shrieking that I owed him an apology! I was stunned to say the least. What was he talking about? Why, he felt the red dispenser (about a foot above and to the left of his head) was off-limits and that I had no right taking a ticket so close to his head. He shrieked at the top of his lungs, all around the room, in all directions, and at me, demanding an "APOLOGY"! While he shrieked, others entered the job center in this order: an Asian, a Mexican, and a Black. Each and every one took a ticket from the same dispenser, not a single one of them was attacked and ordered to "apologise". That pleasure was reserved for the one white person on the premises.

These are just 3 of many incidents each year of anti-white racism, anti-Canadian, and misogynistic racism that I encounter on too regular a basis to consider it incidental. I therefore ask myself if I am still living in my own country. And whether "multiculturalism" is a very different system entirely, and if so, then WHO is "integrating" whom?
