The Literacy for Life Coalition came alive in 2008. Its vision, Make Tucson Flourish Because it Leads in Literacy, is now being converted to action.
In May, 2007, The Tucson Regional Town Hall named literacy its number one priority for creating a healthy and economically thriving city. Action on this priority was brought to life when the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona committed resources and named Martha Gilliland, Ph.D. the new Executive Director of the Literacy for Life Coalition.
