Charter Private Reserve was a blended whiskey that was released by Buffalo Trace back in '07-'08. It was a small trial run that was released into a few "high consuming" markets to see how it would sell. As we can all guess, it didn't do so well. Now since it's not labeled "Bourbon", my guess is that the base is mostly grain sprits with some barrel aged rye and corn whiskeys added in for color and flavor.
As for reviews or tasting notes on it, there's none out there. The only small mention I found on said "it was good but nothing special". Since I know where to find one, I'll pick it up and give us all a proper review soon.
Now the collectability is only there if you want a slightly historical piece. The fact that it's an "American blend" makes any real monetary gain pretty much impossible. So just be happy that you found a bottle that many people never got the chance to own and enjoy it.

You have one of the most impressive collections I have seen. Which is why i am wondering if you can tell me about a product I found that is rare...but probably not sought after (since there is no info online and no reviews). It's Charter Private Reserve (Blended Whiskey). I originally thought it was Old Charter Proprieters Reserve (Because it said Charter PR). It has a nice bottle and comes with a pretty, black, velvet sleeve...but...what the heck is it and...is it worth collecting or even drinking?

So I found my favorite spirit to mix with Eggnog this holiday season. The WhipperSnapper whiskey is stunning when mixed with it (and don't forget a sprinkle of nutmeg)! Unlike other whiskies or rums, it blends so perfectly and the alcohol doesn't take center stage. So if you have access to a bottle of it, I pretty sure you'll swear by that combination as the best you've had as well.

jbenoit9, glad I could help and the new vodka video is up. I did add some comments about the blind taste test results in it. The one thing I didn't mention was that all the vodkas were tasted at room temperature (if served chilled, some imperfections could have been covered up). We also sampled 1/4oz of each vodka making sure to take a good break in between every 4 samples just to keep our palates from burning out (and to keep sober). Once we narrowed our top 5 down, we revisited those and came up with the final rankings. Overall, I'm satisfied with the results and look forward to "re-testing" them with some other friends (just to confirm).

You have opened my eyes to some great stuff. Love the Diplomatico with a nice cigar, but had to order it from NY. You gotta love the internet.

Hmmm, a liqueur video... good suggestion & I'll get to it in a bit, but I'm actually thinking of posting my "New Bottles & Vodka" video next. After that I want to create a "Rarest Spirits" video where I can place my top rare bottles (from all categories) into one video.

I was also wondering if you had heard of St. George Spirits from California. They have a single malt whiskey I've wanted to try. I've read good reviews and thought maybe you would want to add it to your collection. They also make an absinthe that is also raved about. I know these products can be ordered online at various retailers. Let me know what your thoughts are.
